Results of Study on Job Retention and Return to Work for Cancer Patients and Survivors

A key aim of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan is to improve the quality of life of cancer patients and survivors. One important area for improvement is supporting their ability to stay in or return to work.

Spark is excited to announce the publication of a the ‘Study on job retention and return to work for cancer patients and survivors in the EU and EEA countries’ for the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA).

The research, conducted by Spark in partnership with Ecorys, provides valuable insights into the current policy and regulatory landscape.

The study identified several challenges, such as health issues (physical and mental) and illness-related complications and a lack of support for work reintegration, flexible working arrangements and workplace accommodations.

It importantly also highlighted promising examples of good practices that support job retention. These findings will inform future actions to improve workplace inclusion for cancer patients and survivors.
